The roots grow into the soil up to a depth of 50 centimeters (20 inches), so the plant can survive long periods of drought.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe \"Fancy\" variety was bred specifically to be a good cut flower with a long vase life. It grows up to 120 cm tall and 30 cm wide, and generally takes 120 days from seed to bloom.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePurple picotee features lovely double flowers, white at the center and spreading out to more intense shades of lilac-blue towards the edges.
